Richard CORDAUX received his PhD in 2004 from the University of Leipzig (Germany) after working on human genetic diversity in the laboratory of Prof. Mark Stoneking at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology, Leipzig. For his postdoctoral training, he joined the laboratory of Prof. Mark A. Batzer at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge (USA), where he worked on the evolution of transposable elements in primate genomes. In 2006, he joined the Laboratory Ecology Evolution Symbiosis, a joint research unit of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and the University of Poitiers (France). In 2009, he received the CNRS Bronze Medal and he was awarded a European Research Council Starting Grant in 2010.
Keywords: evolutionary genomics, molecular evolution, transposable elements, endosymbionts, Wolbachia

Richard participated in the "1000 scientists talk about the future" exhibition (1000 chercheurs parlent d'avenir), in which the pictures of one thousand French scientists were projected on the walls of the prestigious Panthéon building in Paris, in October 2010.
